So what if that's a hand-painted sign on the body. Aging public buses such as the one above continue to ply the small towns of Perak, providing a much-needed service to the community. They may be old, their engines in constant chatter amidst the steel and grease, but they are proud workhorses - the tyres are scrubbed black and the paintwork brilliant. Many good miles remain ahead before they are rested.

There's something to be said about a venue on the topmost floor of a building which captures what we've set out to do: Share a broader perspective.


Ipoh, the city in a limestone bowl and born of tin, played host to the Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia Roadshow on Saturday. Held at the Excelsior Hotel, the Roadshow attracted over 110 people with its theme Darah Rakyat and the potent idea offered of collective power.

A little rainbow descended upon a birthday celebration in Jalan Tempinis yesterday. About 40 people of various hairdos, waistlines, colours, ages, nose and eye shapes dropped by Readings at Seksan's. Readings, as the name informs, is a monthly gathering of people who enjoy literature, and it just turned five.
