For generations, it fed the central west coast of the peninsular with, not one, but two staples. Sekinchan, about a 2-1/2-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur along coastal trunk roads, throttles on two main economies: seafood and rice.

During the wet season, the fields are a saturated green as they span across the horizon with linear irrigation lines running like aqueous strokes on the landscape.
